"Bi-polar/depression" How is it this spring

I started with chickens this spring. I've got 11 chickens for now, not quite old enough to tell which sex they are though, I hope for at least half to be hens. I also have a dog, two cats, and a few sheep in a 1/2 acre pasture. The garden takes up about a 1/4 acre.
Sorry to hear you raised bed havn't faired well. It hasnt been the best weather for gardens so far, hot, cold, rainy, late frosts and such.

Welcome Bartholomew, Glad to see you also have a garden and enjoy growing food for you and your fam, CCL whats yuor name if you dont mind, lol id hate to call you crazy chicken lady, anyway I have 20 chickens, 15 res crosses laying (pullets) and 10 leghorn laying pullets, I also Have a f2 bengal cat named Sheba whos 8, a yorkie named bella (my ex fiances) I won custody of her lol, and my newest addition is theblack and white flemish giant shes supposedly pregnant., wow all those roosters, well the best way to see which roo to keep is start by breed, what breeds are they or are they all the same? How many do you want to keep?, If they are diffrerent breeds start witht the 2 or 3 you like the best, then which ones are the nicest, then which one hass the best coloring, process of elimination, do you eat em also or butcher, If you wanna still hold on to the Mr. Rooster see which one he gets along with the best.......Ive been inb a good mood I built the rabbit hutch for "panda" today from scratch I finished it within 3 hours lol...heres a pic

Yes the weather has been crazy this spring that's for sure. I think next year we will try a different area. Maybe that will be better. Eleven chickens is a good number, are they all the same kind? We have 7 dogs (most are beagles, hubby hunts with them) 6 cats, 2 horses and a total of 22 chickens. They keep us busy, laughing and half crazy. lol. It is nice talking with you, guess we will talk again tomorrow.
Hang in there

Good job with the hutch. A sweet rabbit. Wow you have your hands full with all those chickens. I like bengal cats very pretty. Yeah I am pretty overwhelmed with the idea of having that many roosters and I have a welsummer in question also. I know for sure we will keep Mr. Rooster, he is all rooster, very pretty and very dominant. But not aggressive with people and only with the other roosters if they mess with his lady. I only want to keep one more considering that right now I only have 18 hens. I am contemplating keeping on of the welummer/bantam mix very pretty. And the other two are buds, they hang together so I guess they will go to my father in law if I can convince him to take both. lol. My name is Kendra, what is yours? I guess that is all the news I have for now. Talk to you later.
Take care and have a good day tomorrow.

Thanks I like the way it came out and so does Panda (the rabbit) MY name is Aldo, The welsummer bantam mix sounds awesome also since he is half bantan he wont be so rough on the ladies, ya know??

You are not alone. I have suffered from depression for six years, although it really got bad about four years ago. I've been on meds for about two years now. Things are better, but still far from perfect. I still deal with bouts of depression and have off days, but that's much better than EVERY day before meds. I really, REALLY wish I could see a therapist or psychologist or whatever, but our insurance doesn't cover it and we really can't afford the crazy prices counselors charge. We make too much money to get aide but make too little to afford the costs. Heck, we could afford it if we got rid of our nearly useless health insurance! LOL

Any way, I am blessed to have an incredible husband who has been nothing but loving and supportive through it all, and two healthy, bright kids. So I need to remind myself to count my blessings. And I do. I just wish I could get better. To just feel better more often than I do. To find my spirit again. But who wouldn't want to?!

HI green eggs and spam.

I hear ya, I lost my "spirit" a while back, im 29, I feel like after 23 everything hit the fan and Im getting payback for all the blessings I had in the past, I know it sounds crzy. Luckily I have no kids or wife lol , Ive sworn off relationships until i find my self, The sucky part is Ive thrown awqay most of my old friends, due too them beings either addicts or bad news, Im out of that lifestyle, and its hard meeting new "normal" people I feel like I had this big cloud over me, The best part is everyone always like me cause Im so funny adn make everyone laugh, how ironic lol , Im happy when Im with the animals sometimes I find my self with my chickens on the ground smoking a cigarette picking clovers and dandelions and laugh so hard thinking "if anyone could see me now" lol not too mention I used to model for 5 years and struggled with weight, I gave in to my Italian genes and gained 50 lbs but people tell me I actaully look like a real man now lol, I guess theyre right I shouldn't weigh 145 lol

Hello and welcome to BYC! I have suffered from depression/anxiety disorder for almost seven years now. My youngest daughter was killed in a car wreck on her way home from school and life has not been the same since! My chicken ladies do help alot and saw the doctor this week and have changed up meds again so hopefully that will help before long. My hubby tries to be supportive and so does my oldest daughter but they do get very frustrated when they feel I have taken two steps back instead of forwards. But as Doc says they have to understand I may look okay on the outside but not every thing is okay on the inside. Keep looking for that spirit, don't give up hope of finding it. So how many chickens do you have and how long have you had them?
It was nice meeting you, hope to talk with you soon.

My hubby is bipolar. He's been getting treatment for the last 4 years and functions totally normally now. He sees several different therapists and takes medication. We are constantly changing his meds but other than that he does great.
