Not today for sure. It's 105-F. out there now, and I'm in the house with the incubator. I just had 2 hatch out from my NN/Breese egg's. That batch is right on schedule. More will be hatching in a few more day's, and half of those will be the NN-Breese/CCLB chick's.
Yay!!!! More chicks is awesome. Can’t wait to find out how the NN-bresse/CCLB mix works out... are you aiming for green laying heavier birds? I thought the NN and Bresse were more meaty, but the CCLB is a lighter layer bird with smaller eggs? I also got another mini egg from my CX or RR today, not a clue who is laying it yet...
My first thought on seeing these girls was honestly “and I get stuck with the skinny little hy-lines?” With the Barring and the heavier bodies I keep thinking about how these 6 might fit into my breeding program. The barring with my BCM rooster could maybe lead to sex links... and they are pretty chunky looking, though I haven’t lifted one up yet. Anyone have any other “crested” breed thoughts as to who may have contributed that cute feature? Still not laying yet...
