Bible Reading Thread!

Just stopping by to re-read the thread and gain some encouragement. I don't know if we're allowed to ask for prayer on here, but if we are, I do need prayer. I won't go into a lot of detail, but I just absolutely feel dead inside. I KNOW what the Word says, I KNOW God is worthy of all glory and praise and honor, and I give Him all... I KNOW Who and What He is, but where there used to be passion, there is nothing. I'm sure it's just part of the grieving process, probably, but I don't want to be that vine that is unfruitful and cut off and thrown into the fire. I've found great comfort in 1 Corinthians 1:4, lately, which says, "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." Maybe one day I'll be able to comfort someone else BECAUSE of what I've been through ❤️

Your post popped up to me, Stacey, and I'm familiar with what happened. You're in my prayers tonight. ❤️ Please also see the Prayer Warriors thread. You won't see me again on these threads, but I am a Christian. I pray for peace for you. :hugs

Praying for you that the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, will fill you and give you strength and peace.

Some of my favorite places to read in the Bible are Daniel chapter 3 and Acts 16!

Matthew 5:43-48
  • Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
  • But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
  • That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
  • For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
  • And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so?
  • Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Thanks for mentioning these two together, there are some great parallels I never noticed before:

Daniel
23And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellers, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. 25He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. 26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. 27And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellers, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

28Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. 29Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. 30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

Acts
23And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely: 24Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 27And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 kJV
  • Rejoice evermore.
  • Pray without ceasing.
  • In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
  • Quench not the Spirit.
  • Despise not prophesyings.
  • Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
  • Abstain from all appearance of evil.
  • And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Faithful [is] he that calleth you, who also will do [it].
