Big air spaces...is this a problem?

Obviously, you realize that this little puff is NOT really a chicken, is it? Looks like a new edition of the family to me.
LOL! You are so right. Had the hen done her job, this would just be another egg layer and future meat bird. But since we actually hatched it ourselves, the kids have adopted her as the new baby.

Still nothing on the other 3 eggs, by the way. I did the "float test" and they are okay so far by that measure. But there is no movement and I am betting they have died. But, I'll give them more time and see what happens.

Yep...just the one. We candled the other 3 Of those, in 2 of them we could see inside the egg that some liquid was oozing around in there. We broke them open (carefully and SLOWLY...just in case) and found nearly full-developed chicks that were dead. Looks like they either died at Day 16-18, or they were just late bloomers that died for some unknown reason. Both had feet that were malpositioned (1 foot up by the head, the other foot down). The 3rd egg we still have not given up hope...so it's still sitting in there. But float test showed no movement and there's no peep, no pip...just very dark inside there. Today is Day 24, and I MIGHT give it the whole weekend before opening it also.
