I've managed to patch cracked eggs and had them hatch, and dropped ones that didn't crack. If jarring killed new eggs, no shipped egg would ever hatch. Wax small, non-weeping cracks and treat jarred/dropped uncracked eggs like all the others, and you'd be amazed what hatches. While the numbers aren't hugely high, I always count the cracked but hatched anyways as little miracle birds, and I've had bunches now. I'm a clutz and the dogs sometimes "help" when I'm carrying eggs to go candle them, sigh... I've even used that new "press and seal" wrap over eggs that were crushed by a hen a day or few prior to hatching and had the chicks eventually hatch fine.
Sometimes they make it anyway. I try if I can't replace the eggs readily. No harm in trying.
