It's funny -- I always called my daughter "chicken butt" when she was little because she was so petite. I guess before I had chickens, I thought chicken butts were scrawny (y'know, like an extension of skinny chicken legs). Now I know better!

one of my BA's has a larger butt too! I also had to give my 16 hens a brazilian wax, now, talk about fun!! It is like trim a mustache with your lips constantlymoving. Oh my goodness, but it sure does help keep the poo of the feathers.

Your chickens are beautiful!

Some of my Buff Orpingtons and New Hampshire Reds have a big ole' butt as well. I have to keep an eye on them because sometimes poop gets stuck on their butt feathers. I have to catch them and clean them. Just keep an eye on it, so they don't get pastey butt.

Ok all my laughing aside, I'd been wondering about the same thing with some of my hens, some have waaaaay more fluff or "junk in their trunk" than others. I was beginning to worry they were possibly egg bound, but sounds like from this that it is just a normal fluffy butt thing.

All 5 of my Easter Eggers have extra fluffy butts, just like your hen. Since they were all the same I just assumed it was normal.
