Big Girl is limping! Help me, please!

Spoke to the vet receptionist and described the problem. She said it sounded like a dislocated joint and couldn't be fixed. I'm going to have to have her put down. :hit:hit:hit:hit:hitBawling my head off. I can't stand it. :hit:hit:hit However, I did find a wonderful home prospect with the vets receptionists nephew. They have a ranch/farm with horses and chickens and they don't eat their animals and oddly enough they live here in our town.

I am sorry to say this again but I think you are over reacting.
The pictures you posted....show zero injury.

There is no way someone can diagnose that over the phone.

If you saw her walking, you can easily tell she's in misery. And the vets receptionist owns chickens herself, so I'm sure she knows. I'm afraid it's going to have to be the best thing.

Sky is turning black out there! I think I better go clean the closet out!.....And is that hail I'm hearing?

Look, if you don't like my decision, I'm sorry you feel that way. But she is in misery, she can barely walk she's getting worse every day and is not wanting to put pressure on that side indicating that she is in pain. It's heartbreaking to see her walk as crookedly as she does. The vets receptionist knows chickens as she owns them herself. After describing her leg problem to her, she CLEARLY said it sounded like a popped joint, and it couldn't be fixed. Having her put to sleep is going to have to be the best option here. I'm sorry if it upsets ya'll. But I did find a very good home prospect for my other four.

I slipped and hurt my knee a month ago. I looked pretty miserable... hubby insisted I go to the doctor, but it was kind of a waste. Doc said rest, ice, elevate, compress. It’s better now but some days I still limp. For a week and more I was in pretty bad shape. Your girl should rest and if you like, you could wrap her leg in vet tape as a sort of brace for the joint (available cheap at farm stores). There’s no reason (if they’ll take her) not to give your limping pullet away with the rest. They’ll euthanize her if needed but I’ll bet she gets better.
