First, I am so sorry. You must be devastated.

I say dog attack. Here are the reasons:

Weasels hunt at night, but mostly at dusk and dawn. They do hunt during the day, but this typically happens when babies need to be fed. We are not in this season.

While weasels can kill many chickens in a short period of time, they typically decapitate and pile/group chickens, so that they can get more food later.

The bite marks I see on your photo looks like a dog bite.

If it was the neighbors dog, and somehow they got it back in their backyard before we made it home, shame on them! I will be more careful from now on. I just got other young ladies. And now I let them free only while I'm home and I check them pretty often.

Have you considered a camera for the backyard to see what is going on while you cannot be outside with them?

If it was the neighbors dog, and somehow they got it back in their backyard before we made it home, shame on them! I will be more careful from now on. I just got other young ladies. And now I let them free only while I'm home and I check them pretty often.

I am not saying it is the neighbors dog, just a dog. Everywhere has stray dogs.
