Big Scary RATS!!!

We are pretty much out in the country.. so I have all types of varments....Rats do not really bother me I just don't want them near my chickens... I think blocking thier holes into the chicken yard will make them move on.. in my case I don't think killing them is the answer because a new set will just move in....I also put some sharp items down the holes as well. Traps and poison are not an option for me as I have a very curious little doggie who I know will get snapped by a trap or eat a poison pellet or bring me the half dead rat in the trap... I am going to close up the one big hole behind the coop this week as I think they have moved on... there is no longer a food source for them either.

I have tried closing up the holes and it has never worked....in fact I shut holes up every day.....they just dig a new one.
