I feel a little like I am being blamed here. I have shipped on Fridays before with no issues. Maybe I am old school here but when I am told "Guaranteed" I believe it. Also, the weather for early in the week was going to be colder so the decision was made to go ahead and ship while it was warmer.

No ones blaming you!

Its just that, you can never ever take USPS word, they may say 2-3 days on packages but I have sent priority and it didnt get to my customer until Friday when I shipped Monday!. Just from now on to be shure, always ship on Monday or Tuesday and at the most Wendsday. Theres always a chance shipping on Friday they will get stuck in the PO. I read somewhere that even if you purchase overnight, wherever you are it can take two days or more because of the location.

You vented, you learned, you'll move on. No one is going to stone you to death for shipping on Friday, even though thousands are going to feel it necessary to repeat whats already been said.

Take a tylenol, ask the moderator to close your thread, and when the headache goes away, call your local major airport and see if the chicks are still there.

Sheesh, I'm sorry you are worried about the chickies, that sucks!! I have dealt with the supposed 'Guarantees' from the PO before too, it is SO upsetting when they tell you it'll be there, and they don't come through!! I Sure hope the babies arrive okay!

Well said, nice Chris

This is actually rscrvc- my daughter is logged in and I saw your post and wanted to air my sympathies despite her login-

I'm so sorry!! I hope it all turns out all right!!!

No one knows that the weekend is a bad idea unless they know of someone else's poor luck or they have a situation like this occur themselves. It's natural to assume the shipping will go as they guarantee it will. You ought not blame yourself and anyone blaming you should remember they didn't know that it could be like this until they learned the hard way or heard of someone else's bad luck.

It is unacceptable that they bungled it like this, but the chicks ought to be okay.

My deepest sympathies to both you and the buyer, and of course, those little chicks!

Cheers,

Renee (rscrvc)

They are not at the Airport, already checked that out after multiple phone calls, they are literally somewhere between here and their destination on the East Coast.
Sorry if I got a little upset, but this has been an awful experience for me and I am sure the buyer as well. My chickens and chicks are my babies, these were especially dear to me as they were Phoenix from birds I bought from another BYC member and had shipped in from the NW. I am very proud of all my chicks but these were some of my best chicks from my Hen and Rooster and just what the customer wanted.

How old are the chicks? I assume well feathered out since there are only three being shipped together? Did you put lots of fruits in, etc.?

Hopefully they will be just fine. If you shipped Friday and they guranteed them to arrive Saturday (some express is 2 day guranteed which does *not* include Sundays so would actually end up 3 day, check your receipt to see what they guranteed you), you can get a refund on the express shipping.

Other than that, all I can say is, I hope they arrive okay, healthy and alive.

They were 3 weeks and almost completely feathered, Phoenix feather a little slower. They had a couple pieces of grapes in the box, I had also fed the scrambled eggs and put electrolytes in their water on Friday.
Yes, my local PO, who are awesome in themselves, told me they were guaranteed by noon saturday.
Asher, can you explain why , when I assume they should have been sent via Air, I was told they were on a truck 2 stated away from where they should have been? Customer Service just kept saying, "I Don't know"
I can only assume, they got shipped to the wrong airport?

There's no telling, hon.

I'm sorry. They could have gotten on the wrong truck, could have been human error, a truck could have broke down and gotten rerouted b/c of it, could be many things. Unless I was there personally to see it and the details, I can't say.

I do hope they get there okay. I have never had a problem getting chicks/chickens shipped in or out, but I always worry until they arrive and I find out that they came out of the boxes alive and well.

The reason I said no lives on Friday is because it is USPS policy not to accept lives on Friday. They never should have accepted them.

All lives go to Memphis, which is the FedEx hub and are rerouted from there to their next destination.
