My sisters pekin skinned his bill pretty bad. i cleaned it with peroxide and then put neosporin on it and some vasline on top to keep germs and dirt out. Is there anything else I should do to help this guy out? I'll post pics tomorrow. thanks

Oh dear, poor duck.

I think that just using the neosporin is all you'd need. Next time you dress his bill just use that. Other than that Betadine would also be good as an alternative.

Duck bills are jam packed with nerves. So this injury will be extremely painful - like as if you had skinned your tongue. For that reason I'd keep him quiet and in a dark warm place, to help him get over the shock. Can you keep him inside the house? Keep his bedding clean. Keep his water clean and keep him away from other ducks for now.

How did the injury happen?

he's been separated and is being a tough duck, I think I was more freaked out then he was. He acted like nothing happened. I'm still searching for what did it, they free range in the yard during the day. I think it might have been on the bottom of the grill so i put a barier there. Thanks for the response

Sounds like he is over the shock and is doing ok - that's good! Hopefully he will recover fully and in 6 months you won't even be able to tell that he had an injury.

Well done on acting quickly to treat the wound :)
