how do u do that from my iphone? again im new here so plz forgive me lol:confused:

you'll have to have a certain number of posts first. I think its 15 to 20 or something like that. I am not 100% how to post from your Iphone to BYC directly, maybe someone can come along and help. I always load photos from my laptop.

I can't post pics from my phone when in the MOBILE mode. I have to change to the desktop mode. my browser on my phone does not work well in desktop mode but I can load pics then switch back to mobile and can edit it.

I know most people hate the gold color and breed away from it...AND that it is not correct for Marans. That being said, we love the gold color and are working on it in our Marans and Olive Eggers. Just hatched out a few from this boy and blue/gold hens. I know he needs more leg feather -only has a handfull of stubby shank feathers- but what other areas should I be watching more closely? He is a BIG boy, & only 6 months old in this pic. Thanks!

So you said you are trying to increase the gold? Try to get a bit longer neck. His topline is not right. You want an angle going from the hackles down to the base of the tail. By him having an incorrect level topline it also makes his tail stand to high. Its hard to see with this size of pic but his eyes look to dark. His legs look a bit on the dark side as well.

Also, on a side note. Please dont take this personal, but the way I read this, you were trying to use the gold, and mix match breeding. If you are not interested in really improving the breed why are you asking for help on other areas of the bird?

I want to learn more about them and improve them as I go. I simply enjoy gaining new knoledge and the challenge of breeding a better bird. I know to a lot of you it seems wasted effort since this color can't be shown and most other breeders wouldn't want them. But simply it is something I enjoy, and as long as I'm up front about what they are (not trying to sell them as sq or true birchen) where's the harm? I appreciate the feedback & guideance on the type issues! Could part of what makes his angles look so off be the way he is standing in the picture? I picked this one because it showed his color well. Eye color is something I hadn't even thought about honestly. I'll have to look closer at that! Are the eyes suppose to be amber then? Thanks again for the input!

Also, since someone asked, yes we use this boy to improve the egg color & gold markings in our olive eggers, but also keep a pure line of 'project' marans. Their color to me means they are a project - NOT that we are mixing in any other breeds into our Maran stock.

This pic is a little blurry and his colors are bleached from the lighting but he's in a more normal pose. Is this what you mean on the topline issue?

If you want good assessments of your birds you need to get a good close, side shot of any bird you want info on. Make sure they are taken at bird level. Also post larger photos. These small far off top shots will not do it. Eyes should be like a dark pumpkin orange.
