So far there have been outbreaks in Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho.
From the articles I've read, all had free ranging flocks, most mixed birds (chickens, geese, ducks etc though one was just chickens) and they believe the affected flocks to all have gotten it from wild birds that flew in. Wild birds poop in their water/food, then the ducks/geese/chickens eat it and then the flock has it.

They had had to cull all that have had flocks tested positive. I guess one strain in WA is so severe that it was killing a woman's geese literally 1-2 days after they started showing signs.

This is SERIOUS and only going to get worse as people start shipping birds and eggs all over this spring. It can be carried on dirty eggs, egg cartons (if that's what people pack their hatching eggs with) and things of that sort so this is starting to look scary

Scary stuff! Just yesterday while hunting I was observing a flock of pintail leaving a field. One of the ducks dropped out of the flock like a rock. At first I thought someone had shot but there was no shot. I left, I think I am done hunting after wittnessing that.

NO poultry products can be shipped/transported fron the quarantine areas. No poultry shows, no poultry auctions, no selling hatching eggs or chicks from areas under quarantine.

Does anyone know what the penalties are for people who knowingly transport poultry or poultry products across quarantine lines?

Another thought is if the song birds can carry it? How can you keep them out of your livestock food? I can see it spreading fast.
