I have occasionally wondered what it would be like to crawl into a large cardboard box with Carl and sit there for a while with him. You know, just hang out with him.

But that might undermine my status as his Boss. Doesn't mean I don't think about it, though.
:D

"bird is a RSL. he was SUPPOSED to be a pullet out of the Tractor Supply bin in 2010.

but i am glad he ended up a he.

oh wait, maybe that's why he is so 'girly'
Well , now there ya go ! I KNEW there was more to 'Bird's story !! I'm so glad and a bit envious , when I read posts about how they are able to just " hang out " with their Roos . My White Crested Black Polish Roo absolutely hates me ! And I raised him from an egg! He doesn't bother my son or DH ,( who could care less about our babies ), so it's really disheartening . Phil is a Fantastic Roo tho and I LOVE him unconditionally ! He's just being a Roo and has saved his girls from hawks at least 3 times BUT why I love him so much was because he saved MY life too , last November, when I unexpectedly had an Anaphlaxis attack while I was in his pen feeding them and letting them out one morning !!! He actually ran out of the coop , flew over a small fence onto our deck , and was crowing Loud and Pecking at the glass door to get my son's attention that something was wrong! My son told me later , that Phil ran back into his coop and stood watch over me , even chasing his girls back into their little coop within a coop because they were Gently pecking me while I was unconscious ! So , 5 hours and a Tracheotomy later , I'm STILL here on this earth , enjoying my family and chickens and ducks!! I am So Blessed !!! My original post was made a day after when I was recovering back in November if anyone wants to read a Spectacular story about how chickens ACTUALLY do " care " for their owners !! I don't know how to link the story over here , so I guess if you want to read it , you would probably need to click on my username and click on my " posts "! LOL, here I go again , being sentimental about Roos. ! I don't know what triggered that memory , maybe because ' Bird looks kind of like Phil with the Poofy hair and all ! Lol. Thanks for the laughs , ' Bird !! Love Ya !!

oh i remember reading your thread, It was so heartwarming. I remember crying reading it and then going out and just hugging 'Bird. you are so lucky as well.

Yes I am ! Now if I could only get the goofball to STOP flogging me , all would be even better ! He's in my Avatar. I love him. ! Maybe ' Bird could give him ettique lessons on how to treat their human Mom's. Lol.

'Bird has flogged my DH. He hates him. and my Father as well.

BUT...

One night i went to tuck them all in for the night and when i walked in 'Bird looked at me funny and proceeded to act really protective of me. Not normal for 'Bird. he was on the roost for the night! He started to crow really loud and nonstop. it's 10:30 at night! WTH???? I made sure he was ok patted him and the girls and went outside to see if there was something hanging around or something. It had snowed pretty heavy and I was in a knee brace. I walked outside, checked around and was heading back to the coop when i tripped over a rock and supported my fall with my hand and broke my thumb. I went back in to them to close the door and he was all over me. nice-wise i mean. at my feet, in front of me etc.

Coincidence? who knows, all i know is that i luv him.

I do know that certain animals can predict or tell that an earthquake is coming. We shall never know huh.

Oh wow ! Glad you didn't get hurt worse !

I have 2 knee braces on because of arthritis , so I'm unable to go see phil and the girls much due to all the Snow we've had. I'm afraid of slipping and not being able to move out of Phil's way when he starts up. He's quick.

Last time he flogged me , he really got me good with his spurs that I still have little puncture scars, and that was in December.

Ah Roos , I love them.

is Carl your roo or your significant other??????
Oh, sorry! Carl is my dominant roo, whom I love dearly. There are no human significant others here. I've got two mini-dachshunds (Zorro who will be 15 this August) and Dooley, who will just turned four, I think. And two cats, Smudge and Lizbeth.
