I had recently read somewhere that some Roos will do that to encourage hens or a particular hen , to lay his egg.

It looked like it worked since you see the GLW ( I assume ), checking it out then eventually taking over the nest for herself.

:D

It sure is cute!

Before I knew Philip was a boy and his name was Phyllis Diller ( hopefully you know who she is ,lol ), I witnessed him doing the same thing. So, I assumed he was a she even more so .

While happily going about my business in their coop , and patiently waiting for the " one lone holdout to lay " her " first egg , I was unnerved by a LOUD , high-pitched screetch , that , to this day , Still sounds like " uh uh uh uh " , kind of like how a little kid would half sing and half say " Naw uh uh uhhhhhhhh ", coming from the vicinity of their nest boxes.

Well , needless to say, I didn't wait around any longer for an egg from the bird , and ,so " Phillis Diller " was determined to be a " Phil " lol.

He is sooooo protective of his 4 girls and I love him even if he won't give me eggs ! Lol :)
