Birthday cake?

Cluck, I would say that peas are every duck's absolute favorite food except that I have a drake who actually doesn't like them. I think he's really unusual in that respect though -he wont touch them- but he loves beans and chickpeas which are similar.

I think it's very sweet that you want to give your ducks something for their birthday. The above post just gave me an idea. What about making them a pea cake? Like this maybe: http://palachinkablog.com/pea-cake/

but without the salt and sunflower seeds. It's savory, so you don't have to worry about sugar, and doesn't have any flour either so it would probably be very ok to give them some.
Looks like I will be raiding the freezer for some peas then. Cooked or uncooked?

. What a fantastic idea. It is not my ducks b'day for a while yet but this is definitely what they are getting!
Good job DeckDuck.

Haha, thanks! I just love how pea green the finished product is. I'm used to pea cakes being fried, kind of like pancakes, but I found this recipe a while ago and I've been meaning to try it.

For the peas: cooked. I forget what it is, but there's something in uncooked peas that isn't very good for them. It's also best to avoid canned peas because they're usually heavily salted. If your ducks haven't tried them before it might take them a few minutes to warm up to them, but boy, there is a reason they call peas duck crack. They will not last long!
