Y'all, I'm about to serve up my male duck for dinner if he doesn't start behaving. I LOVE my Jett but he keeps biting us when we go outside. Never had ducks, chickens or any birds so I'm still trying to figure him out. He's going on a year and I have 1 female for him in our backyard which is large enough for the pair of them. HOW do I get him to stop biting us? He follows us around and walks directly in between our legs which is fine but he runs after us and starts nipping and biting. Not okay and it hurts! Is this aggressive or social play? Cannot tell. Jett would grateful if someone could help interpret his behavior so he gets to hang around a while longer.

Btw, I'm kidding about having roasted duck for dinner but can anyone help me with this? I know there are a ton of knowledgable people on this forum with great insight.

Jett looks like my Sam! Sam does that when he tries to hump my leg. My husband chases him while making the ribbity drake sound so Sam stays away from him now lol. I just pick him up and put him in the coop for a time out. That works for me. Drakes are kinda gross.

Yes, I can almost bet the Drake is Randy and full of hormones right now with breeding season....;)

My Drake who usually loves me tries to run me off too....The wild Mallards are on the ponds close to my house so he has tried many times to leave my property with the Hens in toe...:(.....Hormones.....UGH..!
Once things settle down again he will be back to his normal self...:).....Carry a broom..Do not beat him, you can use it to push him away or if you want hold him down on the ground flat...You will of won that round ..:)...He is Casanova right now..;)....lol.....

Silly Duck!

Best wishes...

Cheers!
