i have a 7-8 week old Pekin drake and he always tries to bite our female mallard and the hens. Especially the mallard, when I bring them in for a bath he will try to grab onto her leg or feathers and won’t let go. Every time he does it I smack him on the beak but he still does it and I don’t know what to do :(

Is it just because he’s young? Will he grow out of this? I thought Pekins were one of the nicest breeds

The Pekin follows my mallard around the yard all the time and will sleep as close as he can next to her but he still tries to bite her and the others and I’m very confused.

I told @DuckMochi in a previous post to gently tap his bill when he nips at her. I think that's what she is meaning.....not really smacking. Wording is very important when communicating on here:thumbsup
Well even that is a challenge to a Drake....He wants to win...

Yah sorry when I said smack I meant tapping his beak usually with a finger or two and I never hit him like super hard I’d never do that. But if that’s the case I’ll stop doing it! I’m still going to push him away if he goes after our other duck though. I don’t want her to get hurt. We have two ducks including him, so only one other and it’s a female mallard. Big size difference there @chickens really

Also I’m not going to stop loving on him? I love on Billy and she’s 10 months old... not going to stop showing my pets affection when they are so important to me. That’s just not right.
