Get some indoor/outdoor carpeting that is close in color to your cars interior. Tack or glue it in place and presto.

My sister used some tacks, and spaced them out evenly to tack up cloth draping down from the ceiling after the glue got old. It looked quilted, and actually wasn't half bad.
