Hi! I'm glad to know that.

there is a convention for how one lists a breeding pair.

I keep my records backwards. I list
Female x Male always.
I picked up the backward habit from breeding plants [pod parent (female) x pollen parent (male)] --- with my plant crosses.
I'm used to doing things backwards, so this doesn't come as a surprise.

Yes. That is correct.

Blue x Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Splash, and 25% Black
Blue x Black = 50% Blue and 50% Black
Blue x Splash = 50% Blue and 50 % Splash
Black x Splash = 100% Blue
Black x Black = 100% Black
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash

soooo . . . one more question, what would white do?
If I am understanding that darn calculator correctly:
white X splash = 100% blue?
white X black = 50% white 50% black?
white X white = ?
white X blue = ?

All the long time breeders of the ABC have told me not to mix white into your bbs flock. You can use black to improve the type of a white flock, but not the other way around.

You will have recessive whites popping out of your bbs birds. This may put people off if you intend to sell them hatching eggs and they get white chicks.

The type and egg color of bbs should be better than most of the whites available on the market.
