Hmmm, you might be right that it is protien and not calcium......this old frog's brain sometimes gets stuff mixed up.

If it is feather picking they are picking each other. When it is hot like this the chicken door is left open all night. Even though I keep the fan running all night they won't go into the coop till it cools off in the evening. Point is, there is nothing keeping them in the coop so feather picking must not be to painful. I have noticed tempers are short with each other but I figured it was the heat. I will keep reading in the health handbook but that isn't an easy task. I don't understant most of it.

Tempers DO flare in the heatboth humans and critters.....You could try vitamins in the wataer [sorta like gatorade for peeps]. Can't hurt/might help. I do alot of researching myself on the internet so keep reading and maybe you might find an answer....SO many variables...take care/keep cool.....
