Sounds like these BA’s are very confusing from what I’m hearing from people! Glad yours turned out to be a pullet! I’d love to see a picture of yours. I didn’t realize they all had upright stances, that gives me some hope that this might not be a cockerel.
Here’s my gals at 16 weeks. Was feeding them some grapes. Went crazy for them. In order of pictures is Onyx, Pea, Oreo, & Sidney. Onyx has been a solid black since the moment I got her. She’s the 2nd biggest. Pea is my top hen & largest. Oreo is a mischievous little pullet. Sidney is my smallest australorp. She likes to run.

Nice looking pullets! Those waddles are still small. Do you know what age they started showing up? With mine it was about week 6 when they really started being noticeable.

For Sidney it was at 6 weeks old. Others about 7-9 weeks old. They were smaller then they are now but noticeable.

This is Oreo at 7 weeks old. Can’t see her waddles but they were just red lines under her beak. You can however see her comb.

Okay glad to know one of yours had them at the same age! Thanks so much for the pictures.
Your welcome. Here’s a picture of my big boy & you’ll see what I mean by the V shaped back. Both rooster & hen have very similar body posture. He’s a langshen but the australorp is almost the same. Just no feet feathers.

Great example of the posture and body shape! Thanks

Oh wow you could definitely see his pointy hackle feathers already! Thanks so much for the picture to compare! Mine doesn’t have pointy feathers like that.
