black australorp - cockerel or pullet?

Mine just started turning red a week ago. three days ago it crowed three hours after sunrise. but since then she or it hasnt crowed. this morning no crow too.

If your chicken looked like the pullet in farmer boy's pic and then recently changed, then I would think a pullet. A week seems a short time for that much change, though. A cockerel will have the red comb and wattles by 12 weeks, but they will grow larger.

Did you check for saddle feathers? Look online for pics of Australorp roosters to compare, but remember, hatchery quality birds can look very different from breeder's stock.

I do not have enough experience with this particular breed to know for sure.

Still think you might have to wait a bit longer.

. But now we are not 100 percent sure of her breed. I just need a quick yes to she is a certain breed then ill be fine. thanks!

Well congratulations on your egg and confirmation of henliness.

As for the breed, can you post some more recent picks? Also, where did you get her? Stock from a breeder can look very different from hatchery birds.

I got it from murdochs hatchery (think its called murdochs maybe mcmurrey). I'll post more recent pics Later today. She should be around 29 weeks by now from when I got her

IMO, rooster. Here is my BA Pullet, aged 4.5 months. See the difference in the size of my hens comb and waddles compared to yours? She is an Ideal Hatchery Black Australorp.

OK, any help would be appreciated on sexing my 4 wk olds.

I know this is a bad angle, but it is the best I have on hand. Let me know if more is needed.

This one I keep going back and forth on whether it is a boy or a girl.

I am thinking this one is a pullet.

Along with this one.

I am pretty sure this guy is a cockerel, I am just wanting verification.

I am wanting to start finding homes for any cockerels I have, living in a neighborhood I am not trying to have angry neighbors.

Thanks for any help!

HELP!
I got a "pair" of Australorp chicks at a chicken auction today, which were supposed to be a male and a female, but they both look exactly the same.
Not sure of age, I'd guess about 4 weeks.
I've never had this breed before, can you help me tell the sex???
