There have been several australorps this year that have popped some white tipped feathers beyond their white wing tips.TSC mixed up one of our chicks. She was supposed to be a Wyandotte and we know now that she is definitely not that. I’ve been leaning more towards australorp. But today she has new white dots toward the top of her wings.
Also, she grows faster than our buff orpingtons and silver wydanotte.
Anyone want to take a guess for me?
Giants and australorps look identical as chicks except for the soles of their feet: white vs yellow and that can be difficult to tell the difference when tiny.It looks like a Jersey Giant.
I have one similar and am trying to figure out the same ! Born around beginning of April and now is mostly black with green tint coming in . Legs black with yellow tip nails . What does your look like now ?TSC mixed up one of our chicks. She was supposed to be a Wyandotte and we know now that she is definitely not that. I’ve been leaning more towards australorp. I'm reading the way to tell between a black Australorp and a Jersey Giant is that an Australorp will have white on bottom of feet where as the JG will have yellow ! Marans will have feathered legsThis girl looks *exactly* like my 3 Jersey Giant pullets <3
edit; oops, was responding to an older photo. Mine aren't that old yet -- cannot tell for sure!
