yes it works. I do it and it really works. and they love it. I put mine in wet cornmeal. 16oz pepper to 5# cornmeal but I have a lot of hens. How many do you have? Don't know about getting them to start laying though. I do this when my hens start to slow down on their egg production. Is she singing the egg song?
