This is a 6 week old chick I've got a couple questions on. The BAs and BJGs were in the same brooder when we got our chicks, so I'm unsure which this is. I asked (and hoped) for an Australorp. I have tried to (almost obsessively) #1 know which breed we have, and #2 know which sex. I've read BJGs do mature/grow somewhat slowly compared to other breeds, so I'm guessing this is a BA? It's larger than my 6 week old EE (labeled as "Americana"..) I have looked at SO many pictures and read SO many threads, but I'm curious what you all think. This chick got it's spiked comb in at about 2 weeks and the color really hasn't changed. I'm holding off on my guess only because of the color of the comb, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at as far as shape on the hackle and saddle feathers at this age.
Your thoughts, education and guesses are super appreciated.

I see yellow on feet webbing of the black chick, so that is indicative of BJG. Bottom of feet should be yellow too. If pinky flesh colored, then BA. Earlobes should be red for either breed. Straight comb for either breed.

BJG grow more slowly, but should be big overall, as they are the largest recognized breed.

that is a lot of comb and color for 6 weeks, looks like possible male.

saddle and hackle feathers won’t be apparent until around 12 weeks of age.

Thank you so much for this information! It's super appreciated. I just peeked and the feet underneath are also yellow. With your lead on the yellow feet, I did some more reading and searching - I also read that oftentimes the BJGs have 6 points on the comb vs 5 on BAs. Interesting stuff! We unfortunately can't have roosters here. I will wait for the 1st crow and then see if anyone is in need of a BJG rooster. Super unfortunate as it's a very calm and kind bird. Sex links for us from now on I suppose. I don't think my heart can take rehoming very often.

We've had 2 BJG roosters (at different times) and both crowed, but not that often, and they had a deeper crow - as far as crows go. Compared to the ear splitting and frequent crowing of a Leghorn rooster, the BJG were very considerate.
