Hello,
I let a broody momma sit on a mix of eggs. 3 hatched. Not sure what hens they were from, but the father is a black australorp. They are 2 weeks old and I have 1 that is starting to look like it has barring. Very curious what hen this could have came from. Would love your thoughts because I can't make a connection. Thank you!

Hens include:
SL and GL Wyandotte
Olive Egger
Amberlink
Ameraucana
Saphire gem

the bared one is most likely from the olive egger. Can you get parent pictures? It is too young to say for sure though. I will warn you that it is a cockerel. The other ones are way too young to start guessing what the parent is

Thank you - I guess I wasn't realizing an Olive egger could pass down a barred gene! There was definitely an olive egg that hatched so that makes sense. I was prepared for it to be a cockerel after seeing the barring come out. All 3 pics are of the same chick. The others I will patiently wait to see what they develop into - it's the first time hatching our own and I am really enjoying the anticipation of watching them grow :)

A lot of olive eggers are barred and none of the other breeds/hybrids you mentioned are typically bared so that was an educated guess on my part.

I wasn’t sure if you were asking about the second chick in the first picture so I just thought I would mention that!

Congratulations! I hope they do well for you, chicks are always so fun

I'm kind of leaning towards SLW just because of the yellow legs and thinking it could be silver leakage instead of barring. There's not really a white spot on its head.

This was my initial thought based on appearance when hatched. It really does look like barring, but maybe I'm jumping the gun :)
