Black Australorps - I need some answers!

Hi, I live in Northern Niagara Co. IN NY state. We have 4 BAs and they are great layers. My husband picked them because they are cold hardy. We'll see, it should snow today! I have at least one thats broody, they are 7 months old now. I also do like the Buff O's. The BA's are very pretty birds, with their green sheen on their feathers.

I have 8 hens and 4 roos. They are great birds. Good layers. Some will go broody, some will not. My roo's are not aggressive at all. My 12 eat about 64 ounces of feed per day, plus their treats. I think that's a bit above average, but not by much. But, an extra ounce or so a day per bird that will give you an egg a day isn't too bad, I don't think. They are cold hardy birds. It got 28 here two nights ago and they done just fine with it.

I have a Lavender Orp baby and he is very friendly. I love him.

I have 7 ISA, 7 RIR, and one black australorp. I am not convinced that she is laying yet, she looks about the same age as my others (9 months olds). The other have been laying heavy since August. She is also very stand offish compared to the others. But I only have one!
