My brand new, just-delivered-today Licorice colored KA stand mixer just got through kneading Gump Bread....
This thing is soooooo fabulous I had to give her a name (the Betty part is after Ms Crocker, of course!!).
I quit making homemade bread ages ago because of the hassle, but Betty is gonna change all that!!
Funny part is.... My best friend (who moved to NY ages ago) sent me some fresh apple cider doughnuts from an orchard by her home in Valatie. Every time I go up there I gorge on them, but it's been a while.... She is becoming a wine enthusiast, and I work in a bookstore, so I sent her some books on wine, she asked what I owed her and I said "DOUGHNUTS!!!"
They arrived today as well, I was expecting them, but not the mixer yet.
I saw where my roommate had put the box of doughnuts on my desk and I tore into them, she and I stuffed our faces and groaned in delight.
I never even saw the HUGE box with Betty in it sitting there.
I was on the phone with the SO and also checking Amazon to see if a delivery date had been posted on my account, it said "DELIVERED".
I said "huh???" and thought I had clicked on an old order, so I started over and it said "DELIVERED", I got up to go check the porch and all but tripped over the box.
I was so busy shoving apple cider doughnuts in my face that I never even noticed that my DREAM MACHINE had been patiently sitting there waiting to make some bread.
I just thought that since this forum helped me decide on a mixer, I'd use a forum-famous recipe to try it out on!!!
