Hi I have ordered some BCM eggs and wondered if anyone knows the best way to hatch them. I have read several different ways some say sandpaper off some of the egg shell and then others say no that is all wrong . Since the egg shell is so dark I can see where you might need to do something different, does anyone who has hatched alot have any advice? I have hatched some but my hatch rate was not good even for shipped eggs. I would appreciate any advice from someone who has hatched alot of BCM eggs Thanks
The Marans hatch just like any other chicken. Keep your humidity down low for the first 18 days and then raise it up to 60-70 humidity the last three days. I leave my eggs on the small end even at hatch times. I think it helps with them not drowning in the shell. I have experience hatching large numbers of BC.

x2!!!!!

Thanks by down low are you talking 20% to 25% are lower. I will be using a Styrofoam incubator with a fan.

it is really humid here so hard to get it really low. I don't add any water in the summer and use stuff to absorb moisture andbcant get it under 40%. in the winter it hovers at 30%. the lower the better. I will add water if it reads LOW....but that is it.

do you notice if a change in air pressure systems (high or low) causing problems for the eggs to hatch?

never have given that a though. they seem to hatch just fine and I can't predict the weather when they hatch so why worry about it.
