Black Chicken Options - help me choose!

I did have a small one a few years ago. It never hatched anything successfully so I binned it and vowed never to lose another egg to a machine!

My broodies are amazing, they do all the work and I don't have to have the stinking brooding mess in the house!

@Mvan42 There is loads of time yet this year. Get hatching! (we can both be enablers for each other!)

I've just ordered 6 barnevelder hatching eggs!

Yes broodys are great.. I lost one of my two yearly broodys a month ago. Don't know what happened. But I have one hen which her breed is known to go broody fingers

Jut coming back to update on my decision.

I ordered 6 Welsummer eggs and 6 Barnevelder eggs from ebay. I know they aren't black but they look so beautiful!

I also wanted some dark brown eggs as all my other breeds lay white to pale pink.

10 eggs are under my broody pullet and I'm hoping she turns out to be a good mama. She is 9 months old and quite fiercely sitting.

I'd love to hear from any Welsummer or Barnevelder keepers!
