What's going on with my roo 😭 I noticed today that the tips of his comb have turned black and one tip has fallen off. I'm assuming this is some type of necrosis, but why? Please advise!!!! (Before and after picture) Side note....we do not have snow here in Texas, except for snowmagedon week back in late February when his before pic was taken.

Keep an eye on his feet as they can suffer from frostbite on their feet as well. I tried to look at his left foot but I can't see it enough. I only mention this because of his comb and I just finished reading another thread about frostbite on the feet.

It got cold enough that he got frost bite. Luckily only the very tips of his comb have 'died' and will eventually drop off. Damage is beginning to show in the 'before' picture.
I did my best to keep them safe and warm. Had extra bedding and heat lamps (that is when we had power 😫) Is there anything I need to do to help him or is this just a process I have to let be and observe?

Once frostbite damage has been done it really can't be treated. The black parts will all eventually fall off. Birds with large combs are more prone to frostbite. If your coop is not well ventilated that can contribute to frostbite. All the moisture they expel while breathing at night builds up on surfaces, including combs, and that freezes and causes the damage. Extra heat can sometimes contribute to more condensation on surfaces also. Being where you are this is probably not going to be a huge issue for you except when you have the rare snowmaggedon, but on a cold morning go out early and feel the surfaces inside your coop. Walls, ceiling, etc. If it feels wet or damp then you need more ventilation.
