I wouldn't of thought about using Milli Fluer. Have had accidentally crosses with a Lavender Bantam Cochin x Marans hens.
All 3 that hatched turned out black pullets Lavender Splits they are Cochin size that lay brown eggs.
I have 2 in with one of my BCM Roosters hoping to get smaller versions that lay darker eggs.

I've never seen a frizzle black copper maran bantam, but i have 4 black copper maran bantams and they are actually really commonly breed in northern Italy which is where i live. i also have been selectively breeding some different breeds together and have make a black brichens maran like breed.

I have a question for everyone out there. Has anyone ever heard of a Black Copper Maran Bantam chicken breed ? I ask this because I have been working on now for just under a year to produce a Black Copper Maran Bantam breed and I think I may have found sucess. I won't go into details of which breeds i've mixed but I can tell you one of them was a Black Copper Maran. I am now breeding my adults to see if their gens will be passed down to their offsrping. If they are and the new offspring produce the same reddish brown eggs I was thinking of selling chicks, but that won't be for some time. But let me get back to why I am posting this question...... Has anyone ever heard of a Black Copper Maran Bantam chicken breed ?
I have them. Looks like you've been working on this awhile; how is it going and how are they doing? location? country & area? I am in Ca., USA

Curious abut your Bantam Marans. Are you still raising them? I have some I have been working with 9 months now but the person that had them to start has had them 10 years. I am in central Ca., USA. This cross was started with LF BCM Marans x SC bantam RIR.

I just bought two ~2-3 month old bantam Black Copper Marans from The Double D Ranch in Prineville, OR at a chicken swap in Terrebonne, OR. I didn't think to ask what they were crossed with. They do have some white in their wings and have feathered feet.

Sorry for the meh pics.

This was taken on the way home. We had just sold a 4 month old Cuckoo Maran Rooster on the way who nearly filled this box, so you can kind of gauge their size?:

Suspected Roo:

You can kind of see the copper around the neck:

Most Probable Hen:

When we were looking at them I suspected that one of them was a roo, so I asked. The woman selling them said "no, they're 4 months old" to which I responded, "wow, they're going to be small!" She said something like, "well, not that small". Pretty sure they're not 4 months old (they're still peeping!!) and that one is suspiciously roo-looking

.

I think we are at least a good 3 months from seeing any eggs, but I can re-post when we get eggs if anyone is still interested :D
Inquiring about your Marans bantams; what was the outcome? size, egg color, gender? Did you ever get more? I have them currently "project status"

Hi!

So we're getting eggs nearly daily from our bantam black copper maran.

These are her eggs:

For size comparison, clockwise from the back left the eggs are from our welsummer, cuckoo maran, leghorn, two from our maran bantam, and a brahma bantam.

This is what they look like now, they are more skittish than most of our birds (the pictures are really blurry, I had to chase after them):

They are almost always together:

The roo is very handsome, here he is with our other rooster, Fancy Pants, a white cochin:

He is much larger than she is, but it is kind of hard to tell:

The rooster is very docile, we've heard him crow a few times, but it is very quiet, more of a cooing. He's never chased the other hens around as of yet, and I haven't even seen him chase his own lady at all yet. We haven't come up with names for them yet, we've named 12 out of our 16 chickens!
Do you still have your Bantam Marans? Did you hatch chicks? Ive had LF Marans 6 years and just got started about a year ago with bantam Marans starting with Cuckoo which all just went to a friend this past summer as I am continuing with the bantam BCM that I started from a person North of me that traded some exhibition quality Large Fowl straight comb Heritage Rhode Island Red exhibition quality cockrels (LF SC RIR) to for the BCM bantam Marans hatching eggs. These are still "project status" needing lighter copper coloring as they are a darker mahogany, smaller size, darker eggs, and some still pop a little yellowy legs and some no leg feathers.

Alright so from what I've found they were accepted by ABA but they were so rare they were removed from the accepted list. I researched it because I randomly bought chicks and got a bantam frizzle black copper marans rooster by chance The only thing is he has poor genetics with a yellowish copper

Are you still doing any bantam Marans "projecting"? I have some bantam Marans I am currently working on.
