Black Copper Maran, Cockerel?

Cockerel. The comb and wattles both are large and pink. At 7 weeks, which is very early.

Tails don't mean anything at this age.

I'm on the fence. Please post updated pics in 2 weeks.

I’ve had both. Some that matured late, some that matured at 4 weeks. Will have to wait on this one.

This is what he/she looked like at about 5/6 weeks. I thought for sure it was a Roo but it hasn’t had much growth in the comb over the last week/two weeks and it has stayed lighter in color compared to my other two Roos that are the same age and even the waddles seem lighter now.

BCM with my suspected Roo barred Plymouth Rock. The combs and waddles are roughly the same size and they both developed them at the same time but the barred Roos are much redder. Not sure if that has anything to do with the breed

I'm afraid he's a cockerel: a pullet should have copper only on the neck
