A rooster shortage????? Come to think of it.....I did hatch out more pullets in the last year than I have males, but I still got more than my fair share of cockerels, trust me.

Well, the shortage at my place is of pullets....I probably have 20 teenageers and 2/3 of them are boys....argh.

I just sold 3 cockerels that were uber mossy...they were "experiments." The gentleman who bought them was practically doing cartwheels. I wondered why he was so thrilled. Said he had some very dark hens & thought these mossy boys would do him some good. He drove 3+ hours - Holy cow!

I see some white in his foot feathers... but other than that he looks nearly perfect.
Nice color balance, build, eye color, tail set is a little high. But really he's what I think of when i think of a show roo

Have you weighed him?

My roo is exactly one year old and I will try to post a current picture sometime today for you to compare with.

Here is my concern . . . For one year old, he does not seem to be as big as he should be. It could be the picture . ..
Weighing him would let you know if he is as big as he should be.

Specifically, I am looking at his chest. In several of the photos it looks like his chest is recessed.

I don't think there is a shortage of roosters, just a shortage of QUALITY roosters! My place is looking like Roos-R-Us! It's probably a very good thing that people are being very selective in only bringing good roos to the shows!

Alecia has a few of mine.... I was real pleased with the outcome of last springs hatch... If anyone is close to here in GA... you might want to ask her about one or two...
