Just checking in: Right now I've been busy with two batches of chicks. The younger group was interesting because some of the chicks had copper right away- it was shocking. I'll be interested to see how they grow up over time.

The older group, the males are starting to get more defined, and I can see things I like and don't like. I'm also learning about my personal preferences that have nothing to do with the standard. I will be sharing photos of my top 2 males and seeking help from all of you on this matter. Now if I can only find that post that gives photo guidelines/suggestions

I can't believe it's been two months since I picked up my pair of marans. The poor dears have been in a brooder most of the time as I didn't have their chicken tractor ready yet. I got them outside yesterday evening. It was just in time, too. My cockerel crowed his first squawking crow an hour before they moved into their new digs, though they're not used to the new coop yet.
