Thanks, I just didn't want to be annoying when I'm sure lots of great info is already posted!!

So where's the best place to start? As I've said, we've had chickens off and on, only for our egg use. Currently have 7 silver laced wyandottes, one is a rooster that I'm having issues with as he has recently started attacking us when we go in to feed and collect eggs. I'd kept him as I'd considered hatching some eggs somewhere down the line.

I do not have an incubator yet so will be looking for suggestions for the best reasonable priced noncommercial type incubator as well as what the best way to proceed in becoming a GOOD breeder. I always strive for excellence in the animals I produce and in their care.

This does not include the affect of a known recessive shank inhibitor that can be found in some utility breeds such as sussex, leghorns, RIR and Rocks.
This inhibitor is why you can get clean shanks from feathered parents, and more feathered shanks than you would expect from a sparsely feathered x non-feathered (inhibited) cross.

That's very comforting! I hope I won't be too irritating with my questions! I think I just really need a step by step program, ya know??? LOL

Well Math I came in and had a beer re-read Village's post and might need a whole bottle of wine......since I'm only breeding blue coppers right now and they need feathers I'm sticking with my Splash boy with the stubs just need to wait and see what the babies grow out to thank goodness I have somebody who wants all my culls for dark eggs that they sell I have 2 more broody girls and I'm going to give them the last of my blue copper eggs before I leave on my ride-less ride thanks to that EHV-1 I'm leaving my horse at home...hoping that it will calm down with the new cases I have a bunch of events planned later in June.......
