My Black and Blue Copper Marans from Monique Wagner.

My Black Copper girl is a bit mossy, I'm hoping that's indication that she'll lay super dark eggs though... that's at least what I've read. They came from gorgeous deep red/brown eggs.

My Blue Copper girl, Ponyo. She's a bit smaller than the Black but I LOVE her color.

Gorgeous girls. Love the BCM girl and Ponyo is the prettiest blue copper I've seen!


I need to ask a technical question. DH's co-worker will be wanting chicks in the spring, pullets at that. Can I use FBCM roosters over silver laced wyandotte or lt sussex hens to make sexlinked chicks? Are these chicks silver and red like using a RIR rooster?

Thanks for helping me figure this out. Need to justify keeping roosters. The more jobs he has the better.

Will crossing FBCM Roosters on SLW also work? I only have 1 lt sussex, but 4 SLW.

What is the genetic code for the FBCM for feather color--does anyone know. I'm still reading the earlier posts trying to find this. THanks. ?? EE . . . .

I have some BCMs and OEs that are in lockdown right now

that they hatch! My two oldest BCM roos are just coming of age and are chasing all the girls around the yard. It's funny but they're catching on to having to court a bit. Hoping to close the flock next spring but we'll see how it goes!
