X2 I'm going there tomorrow actually. I think it was like $15 for a pack of three that were 250 lumens which allow me to see in the Marans but still not so much in those crazy olives you like DM!

Mine tend to lay in cycles. They will lay really well for up to 3 months and really slow way down. Not a weather thing here I don't think. Just the way they are. I was getting 13 eggs a day now I am lucky to get 4-6 eggs a day. They eggs will be darker when they get started again. One reason I am afraid to do any culling right now... I will not know what color egg they TRULY Lay.

NOTHING can see in those Olive Eggs. I think you would have to sand paper that off to see what is going on in those eggs. I can't see through my Olive Eggs either. Blue Eggs are dense or something and then to add the Dark color of a Marans and![]()
I'm super new at this but I can take at least a stab...
COLORING: The only good colored female I see is the one facing away between the two roosters. The rest are overmelanized (too dark). The boy on the left looks just OK, the boy on the right does not have even hackles- see how they start copper, fade to almost straw and then fade back to copper at the bottom? Not good. Often (but not always) means Wheaten blood somewhere in the line.
The do all have correct leg color and nice leg feathering, as far as body shape this is a REALLY bad picture to judge that from. You need a good side shot and if possible also a good top shot to really see it through pictures. Handling the birds in person is even better.
If you raise up ALL the chicks to maturity you might get 3 or 4 keepers if you're lucky. We are all in the same boat here with trying to improve the breed- but at least you know what your parent stock looks like and what to expect.

I will comment on your BC. They all appear to have real good size.
