Black Copper Marans discussion thread

By that age you should be able to compare them to each other and look for the key things: comb size and color (males are bigger and pinker), leg size (males have larger shanks), and attitude (males like to bump chests and don't often back down when challenged, also tend to stand up taller more often).

Quote: I got her in November and she was supposed to be around 4 months old then, so that would make her about 8 months old now. (These pics are probably from January before she was laying). She most definitely is laying now. I've seen her lay recently, and she has been squatting for at least a month. Her eggs are medium, light brown, with medium dark brown specks. Not at all what I was expecting.

I have a pullet who has been laying medium brown with DARK brown speckles. I was hoping it would even out after the first two weeks but he has been laying them for a month. She is going to live with our Crested Cream Legbar roo for a while. Spotted Olive Eggers could be fun.

Nothing wrong with a few speckles :p I have a solid blue Marans hen that lays speckled eggs. I love them.
They are the 4 larger speckled ones in this photo on the right..
