Thanks for posting, Mary, but a correction--he won Reserve Continental, not Champion (Best) Continental. A WCB Polish won Champion Continental. I did win Champion Turkey, though!
I have splits she is my first lav from that pen. splits will give you 25% lavs 50% splits and 25% black.... I think that is right.....dang brain....let me check that....I fixed it....if that is wrong let me know. yes they would look kinda like the leghorn. most plain lavs I have seen in Marans are really copper you can see the cream in the hackles and saddles.
oops. sorry about that! Maybe next year I will have something that at least I won't be embarrassed to put up against your birds ;-)Thanks for posting, Mary, but a correction--he won Reserve Continental, not Champion (Best) Continental. Hi all! I'm new to the thread - just got my first BCM pullet a few months ago. She has very little copper color though, so we won't be breeding her. I also just hatched out two FCBM chicks. One we had to put down, but the other is healthy, and such a cutie. Can you sex them at a week old? Also, are there indicators at this age that he/she will be pretty? Here's some pictures:
