Most likely thing is that you've got a bloodline which carries recessive wheaten (the W. Jeane line is known to have carried it, and I'm sure there are others). If so, every so often you'll get a wheaten colored bird from them.Okay a little help from you chicken experts, i am at a complete loss.
I sold somebody some black copper Marans hatching eggs And one of the eggs hatched out to be a yellow chick! On one side of their pen are Partridge orps who have not leave yet, And on the other side are crested Cream Legbars. The marans are the only chocolate layers I have. I sent him all chocolate colored eggs. Is it possible to get an albino? Lol
I learn things here all the time. Mahalo (thanks) Wynette! Most likely thing is that you've got a bloodline which carries recessive wheaten (the W. Jeane line is known to have carried it, and I'm sure there are others). If so, every so often you'll get a wheaten colored bird from them.

You may want to check the SOP - the approved version is posted on the Marans Chicken Club's site here: http://www.maranschickenclubusa.com/StandardofPerfection.htmlOne more question - will the eyes change color later? Their eyes aren't supposed to be black, right? My pullet has colored (reddish brown) eyes.
And to you as well. HOW do you get the macrons above your vowels? `Okina I figured out, but not the macrons...ʻAe!
Hau'oli Lā Ho'omaika'i iā 'oukou a pau! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
