Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Hi. I don't have black coppers but I do have a blue copper cockerel. I love this thread. I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience with this problem. I posted it here

My first Marans egg today!!

This bird has been through a lot...I hatched 3, and she was the only to survive. Then she was picked on very hard by the others(Wyandottes)...but now..all is different . She is the first to the food and doesn't let anyone push her away...and now she is officially my one and only brown egg layer!!! So beautiful...

The speckles have a purple-tinge to them, can't really see it in the pic.

Next to her pen mates egg...(Wyandottes)
and this is the girl...


I have better pics, but took this one real quick today...she had a lot to say, she is normally very vocal to begin with. I enjoy this thread, have learned a lot about these beautiful birds, Thank you for all the info. and wonderful pictures!! All has come full circle...from an egg to laying an egg..so great!

That is a beautiful egg. I love the dark speckles.

Awe...I'm glad she survived being the lone hatchling and then getting bullied by the 'Dotties! Her egg is lovely!

It's a spring loaded nipple with a rubber o ring on one end. The bird nudges the metal pin which allows a bit of water to come out and into the small indentation in the plastic.
