Black Copper Marans discussion thread

From my experience. Cesar is waaayyyy too dark, but has nice shape, except for his tail being to high. Brutus is still too dark, but much better, he needs to fill out a lot, he's pretty gamey in shape, his tail is a good angle, and his head is a nice shape.

Black Copper Marans hackles & saddle feathers should all be the same color, without graduating color. One has "straw" colored feathers in the middle of his hackle. It is not correct.

What color are the other roos ear tuffs? If they are brown, not black, then he should gain more copper color & be ok eventually. He does seem too dark at this point though.

Cesar and brutis. My foundation black copper marans. Please critic. Cesar is darker of the two and is only 8 months old his color is coming through. Brutis is 10 months old And lighter of the two. Let me know what you think

This is a pic of my 9.5 week ofd BCM cockerel. His name is Buttercup! Yes, I know, his name is girlie. He was part of a group of three Marans girls but fate dealt me a boy and I've gotten used to calling him Buttercup. How long does it usually take for all of that gorgeous coloring to come in fully?

Out of all of the Black Copper Marans breeders in the United States, who has the best genepool that still sells to the public. Thanks for any/all replys in advance.

How many others are out there that lines are compairable to Bev's line, that still sells publicly?
