Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I have discovered that he/she isn't a Marans at all. He/she is a large fowl cochin. The person I got him/her from accidently got the chicks mixed up and instead of getting a BCM I got a Cochin. OOPS!

That would explain it! So sorry that you didn't get what you wanted, but it is a beautiful bird!

There was a Greg L who entered birds in the Central Maine bird fancier show at Windsor this past weekend. Anyone know him? He had one nice bird there but no info on the breeder list. I have some eggs in the bator just waiting to show their fuzzy legs! Sounds like us Maine girls come spring lol

yeah im thinkin so too my cousin has its older sister shes the one breeding them and said her sister has larger comb and she is laying eggs but haven't seen cousins im thinking its a roo also thank you for your fast feed back

One of my upcoming boys, he is finally showing some copper. I kept him because he has the best shank feathering I've gotten so far. I'm going to pair him up with some beefy girls who were hatched with leg feathers, but now….? not sure where they went. These girls came from some darker eggs, so we shall see.

Thank you I took another pic of him last night after the rain and you can def tell now its crazy how lil roos can grow so fast lol
