Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I would use them in a Blue Copper program but would not breed back to BC Marans that were already established. You could still show the as BC if they look like BC. Look at the lower body soft feathers if they are a brown tint they would be tainted from the Blue.

Ok, Thank you Don! I was thinking of a blue program. I just wanted to make sure I am on the same page! I want to breed as close to SOP as I can with what I have to work with. I think it would be awsome to show even if its just at the local fair. Maybe in the far off future. When I have learned more and have worked with the breed more.

I think people talk about most colours on here but I don't know for sure. Do you have any marans?

Yeah we have had awful luck this year. Out of every hatch almost all have been males. We have like 20 little roos.. :/

Out of my 26 that hatched I only have 11 cockerels, and I would've preferred 3/4 cockerels as I need a cpl new roo's.

You always get the opposite of what you want lol..
