Chicks will begin asserting a pecking order as soon as they can walk.
At 2 months you should definitely be seeing some chasing, pecking and sometimes even a stare down between chicks.
That is normal, has nothing to do with breeding or even to do with being a cockerel, both cockerels and pullets will try and beat each other up actually.

Crowing can start super young or later in maturity, I had one as young as 5-6 week crowing and some as old as 9-10 months.

Some chicks are much more aggressive than others, I occasionally hatch out a chick who will constantly bully the others. Unfortunately this may or may not calm down once they mature, sometimes it gets worse.

Hope this answered your questions.

Hello
I am new to this thread. I own around 15 BCM. If I remember right, they are from the Bev Davis line. These birds have great (mostly) temperaments and beautiful eggs. I am very exited about my new little roo, Babe. He was hatched in late July. He was the only survivor out of a bad clutch of 4. Sat by one hen who decided she didn't want to be a mom and then by a hen who was ready. Lefty the first hen ended up killing the first hatch. She ate the shell off of the chick. Phoenix, the second hen, was great. She hatched out the other two eggs then left the nest with the 3 chicks. The rest of the eggs were infertile. She raised the chicks for about 3.5 weeks then bad things happened. The oldest chick started soending the night on the floor. We put this chick into an indie brooder. The chick stayed fluffed up and lethargic. The second chick also did the same thing, so there were two in the brooder. Then Phoenix decided she too wanted nothing to do with the chicks. So babe also went into the brooder. The two sick chicks ended up dying. Babe now has a small respiratory issue but it doesn't seem to effect him. He breaths heavy. After 2 months (ish) pheonix came down sick doing something similar to the chicks. She was wheezing and sneezing and coughing. She also soon died. By this point the whole flock had been treated for coccidiosis. Babe is still doing strong though and is starting to become quite the nice rooster to me. I have had chickens for a few years now, so I'm not quite exactly sure if he's really good quality or not. I will post picks soon. He has not had his first moly, has the least amount of white any of my birds have had as chicks. He only has 2 white small 1 centimeter diamonds. He has pretty good shape. He is just now starting to get his red saddle feathers.

Yes sure are all individuals! My most assertive one is my banty white Cochin. The cutest smallest little yellow chick was the bossiness dictator and even my large fowl bird feared her. She has mellowed some but her word still goes and I just love that sassy girl. She isn't mean but she is firm. You just nev r know which ones are going to steal your

Hello everyone. This spring I'm looking to get my first flock of heritage chickens and I'm looking at Black Copper Marans. Can you show them? And what is their temperament like?
there are rows and rows of BCM shown. Their combs are what judges looks for (generally for breeding possibilities). their temperament is friendly and likes either confined or open. We had one and turned out to be a roo:/
