Just finished examining the birds. The blue girl, the worst thus far, has been 24 hrs without symptoms. She's already put on weight! None of the others have symptoms. They seem to have potentially come out of this. They will stay on antibiotics for a few more days. I will still do the blood test and if they are carriers of whatever this was then I will try to get the breeder to buy them back.
I hope I can keep them, I've gotten rather attached to the rooster.
And the BCM with too much feathering? The wings match Sherman's in shape, not the ones that I am certain are girls. And it's comb and wattle are almost as red. And the smallest girl, a BCM, is both Beetle and mossy?! On the same feathers!!
So if I can keep them then it looks like I'll have a black trio and a blue pair! And I have no clue how I'll separate them. One of the roos may get culled if they can't get along. I couldn't sell them in good conscience since they've been ill.
Even though this first week has been Chicken Hell, I have the bug and I already want more. This is just wrong! I should never want to see another chicken as long as I live, but I'm already thinking of more Marans and some Ameracaunas.
I finally saw posts from the Newnan Show. Congrats on approval!
