True, however.. About 3 months ago I sold a truck on
eBay, after the auction ended the buyer emailed and said "Hey, I didn't realize that you were 700 miles away, I can't drive that far or fly to pick up your truck." I emailed back with the pretty much "well you should have map quested before you bid," and filed a non paying bidder dispute. About a week later
eBay REMOVES his non paying bidder strike and he left me a negative feedback because I filed the dispute to get my $125 in fees back. I resold the truck, guy came and got it and all went well. I emailed
eBay to reinstate the strike and to have my negative removed and their exact words back were. "Mr. Deans, we can understand how frustrating it can be when a buyer makes a purchase, then does not complete the transaction. Furthermore, we understand your frustration with the negative feedback you received, but as it is not within our scope of threatening feedback we will not remove it."
So don't always think you are protected on
eBay, you just have to hope your complaint gets to someone who cares about integrity not someone who could care less about your problem.
Also, I believe that there was a misunderstanding with what peachick was saying, and I don't think it was meant in any negative way to anyone. A lot of big name breeders don't need to sell on
eBay because they don't have to, everyone knows them and wants their product. A lot of times people that sell on
eBay are doing it because they don't have the big name yet, and without an entity such as
eBay they would have no other way to advertise their product for sale. Sort of like if you sold toys, you aren't toys r us, so you don't have that big name, no one knows of "joestoys.com" so you sell on
eBay where there are literally millions of people looking for stuff every day. Then once you get your name out there, customers are happy, they tell other people, and next thing you know you have a list too and you stop selling on
eBay because you can't supply both.
Peachick never said nor meant to say "Just because you sell on
eBay you are not a top breeder."
We have got the same msg from
ebay about dead beat buyers. that is a "canned msg" respond back and it goes to a higher level. tell them you aren't happy. we have had 2 negs removed from our feedback due to non paymant. it took a few mails but they are very helpfull. Once again PUSH your point, don't give up.... You aren't just the little guy, list the dead beats name, don't be shy. word of mouth is king on the forums. I get in trouble and ruffle feathers because I say what I think and voice my opinions, you can take that or leave it, at least you know where I stand.
