Black Copper Marans for sale?

Does anyone know any reputable private breeders that have Black Copper Maran chicks for sale this spring? I'm looking for about 10 hens and 2 roosters and obviously am going for the super dark eggs. I would like to stay clear of the big hatcheries (McMurray, Meyer, etc.), as they specialize in cranking out large amounts of birds and do not specialize in egg color.

Yes! Posting your location would help tremendously. There may be some local breeders near you that could most likely help you out. I've been searching locally and it seems that everyday I find out about more and more people than I ever expected to find.

So sorry folks - Colorado, USA. The state isn't that important as most folks can ship within the USA, but yes, it would have to be in the USA. Thanks!

There is a thread on this forum devoted to marans. You may find someone who can hook you up. I would imagine if someone has really dark egg-laying marans they won't be cheap.

Folks can only ship legally if they are NPIP certified. Also, even if your state isn't important... we have member from the UK, Canada, Australia, South America, etc... So adding at least your general location to your profile can help folks make the best suggestion possible at a glance in the future.

No private breeder can accurately sex BCM. I bred them for a few years and they were fairly good birds!

Egg color was fairly good, birds were decent but not perfect.. but lets be real, I haven't seen a whole lot of perfect birds... It's been a few years but here is one place I got some of my genetics... Service was excellent.. when chicks didn't arrive on time she tracked them down and SOMEHOW talked the postmaster into adding water inside their cup, which I believe made a huge difference.
